Last Month we put on a play at THE HOT TAP THEATRE in NEW CROSS. This play was written by my good self after attending a writing course run by the wonderful SYNERGY THEATRE PROJECT at The Royal Court. The play is called ‘GOD DONT LIVE ON A COUNCIL ESTATE’ and starred the wonderful eminent character actor DUDLEY SUTTON.

The great Dudley Sutton and Jud Charlton
The play ran for 3 weeks and recieved great reviews from Whatsonstage, Remote Goat and the Evening Standard.
The other night we held a big night out at the leicester square theatre. Over 350 fans of art saves lives turned up. What a night it was. It was refreshing, over whelming and so inspirational that mere words probably cant capture. But I’ll try any way. First on was Leon Fender Walker. This singer song writer is just getting better and better. His voice and guitar speaks volumes. Rasping vocals straight from the heart. Every lyric means so much. He relays a personal message that really strikes a chord with every single listener. Shame he could only do three songs. He could have played a whole set given the time and space. This guy deserves a chance. He deserves a record deal. NOW!
Next up was Yoka, the dutch diva. Her set had so much soul. Her voice was unbelievable and keeps getting better and better. She sang two two tracks and delivered a third after a rousing encore from the apreciative audience. Blues at its very very best.
Then came a little boy, Jake, took us back in time with a brilliant rendition of Charlie Chaplin.
All this was linked by the brilliant Jud Charlton, our compere for the night. More energy than a duracell. Really shone and the audience LOVED HIM. A natural born entertainer. Really understood the message we were trying to convey. A star beyond belief.
Next on was the dynamo that is, Amber Topaz. Held back on the burlesque but proved what an absolute brilliant voice she has. A true performer. The crowd loved her.
A play next, that is so deep, you could swim in it. Leona Osullivan is an actress that is in the ascendancy. The whole of the audience were stunned into silence by her performance. Eve McDougall, the play write, gave her heart and soul. Cant wait for the full length play to be finished and performed. Deserves an award, This play is a must see piece. Theatre audiences please take note and watch out for this one to be announced.
After the break we had the Man that is The Jazz Man himself. Had the audience in the palm of his hand with words that take you to another dimension.
A street dance group, Alter Ego. Their energy and their passion has no boundaries. They entertained all ages of audience members and I challenge anyone that wasn’t moving in their seats to their intricate and dynamite moves and choreography. A real crowd pleaser.
They were followed by a singer with a big big voice. And she was only 12! Rowan, keep going one day you will be star, not that you’re not all ready.
A duet by two 11 year olds next. Carlie and Lana. A great song choice that the audience lapped up. They wanted more. One song that will stay in their hearts forever. Great to see such youngsters up on stage given it their all.
We finished off with a gospel choir. everyone was clapping and singing along. What a great way to finish a great great show. Every one left with massive smiles on their faces.
A great great night. A massive thank you to The leicester Square Theatre for giving ART SAVES LIVES this space for the night absolutely free!
They’ve all ready asked us back next year!
Big love Dean and Cat and our newest director Ryan!..

Art Saves Lives is a community interest company that is dedicated to finding space and to giving a platform to any artist, writer or musician.
We believe that there are too many arts based organisations out there feeding off of the backs of others less fortunate. Organisations that exploit former prisoners, the homeless community and the disabled. They have a conveyor belt to a golden ticket for excessive funding. Art Saves Lives does not manipulate or exploit anybody.
Last year we recieved just £3500 in funding for the entire year. We got turned down by the arts council 4 times. It did not stop us putting on life changing events and from changing hundreds of peoples lives.
The reason we plough happily along is because we have a belief in what we are doing, a resolve, a wonderful set of supporters and a dogged team of volunteers. Please join us? If you like? The decision is yours and your alone.
ART SAVES LIVES. IT MIGHT SAVE YOURS!
