FEAST OF NYMPHA

ART SAVES LIVES run many projects and courses in some of Londons most socially deprived and excluded areas. We recieve no government funding and work entirely on a voluntarily basis. We are very good at sourcing space and uitilising time- always highlighting and raising awareness to the talent and the passion for the arts that exists within the margins of society.

What a great night was had by all- artistes and audience! Best way to tell it? In pictures by our resident artist ANNA LOUISE! ASL featured over 40 artistes in this wonderful celebration of art (on a shoestring!)…

Lost Key by CATHY FLOWER

Oh fear (pause) you declare

You can not bare (pause)

Despair

You do rear

Always near

No way out

You shout

Inside (pause)

You care

For repair

You rear

Despair

Oh dear (pause)

Why not sear this rot you have sowed?

Inside your abode?

Why not dare to crack this shell you have encased? (pause)

You have what it takes.

Arrow pulled back, ready for flight but never flies

Withdrawn, held back

Out of sight

Where is the key?

What is the key?

Who is the key? (pause)

You want to be free (pause)

What have you done?! (pause)

Nothing

To cause halt to your breath

Nothing

To cause torment to your life (pause)

Nothing

To entrap your soul

Is that your goal? (pause)

Are you the key?

You choke on toast

The tea is cold

You are lost

You are frost

Will a steam room thaw your fear?

To a degree certainly

Will love melt your steel?

To a degree certainly

Will music shatter this harness?

To a degree certainly

Will a tune carry you away?

To a degree certainly

Lift you higher to a flawless level (pause) today?

To a degree certainly

From the clogged drain pipe, from where you are?

To a degree certainly

What of tomorrow?

Ipods and Discmans are not your forte

Certain occasions you will allow or invite

You can not lean on music always

To pull you through from the depths

Of your hell (pause)

You can not breathe

You can’t breathe

You can not talk

You can’t talk

You can not see

You can’t see

You can not

You can’t

Leading you to desire invisibility

You can not have this vacancy

If you want to live

Where is the key?

What is the key? (pause)

Are you the key?

You do not know

You don’t know (pause)

You are under a veil

You are covered in a ‘Christo’ wrap

You are a statue

What is holding you back?!

(drag track) Slack track… slack track…

The path is laid before you

You are scattered fragments, bits and pieces

You are a myriad of smidgens for the pigeons

You are a baseless mosaic cast high above

Flown in all directions, aimlessly by you

You land in pieces, lost and scattered

Trying to re-gather

To be one – whole – cake

It’s a scene and you are in trouble

You remain broken

You carry on dreaming of the key.

Then Hope pops round again (pause) for another cup.

(whisper) Where is the key? (pause) (voice from nowhere in particular)

YOU HAVE GOT THE KEY! YOU HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE KEY! ALWAYS! TO UNDO THIS BONDAGE! (repeat)
